About us

Our family has been involved in rose rootstock cultivation and the sale of bare-root roses since 1987. This is our main activity, and in addition, we also produce fruit tree saplings. Our roses and fruit trees are grown in Deszk, in the Karóca Dűlő area. Every family member is involved in a specific part of the process. All tasks, except for budding and wildling, such as planting, inter-row cultivation, plant protection, and irrigation, are carried out using machinery. In 2006, one of the women in our family was crowned Rose Queen at the Szőreg Rose Festival. Our roses decorate the streets of Deszk, Biharugra, Okány, Öttömös, and many other towns. They have reached Austria, France, the Netherlands, and several EU countries, and can also be found in Russia and the Middle East. Currently, there are nearly 50 varieties of roses available on an area of 1+1 hectares. The list does not include the varieties that we produce based on customer requests through special agreements. We produce our rootstock needs from our own seed-bearing Rosa Laxa mother stock. The scion wood is harvested from our own stock. Upon request, we are happy to propagate varieties specifically requested by our customers. Our nursery plants, with bare roots, are bundled, free from leaves and flowers, labeled, and sold in compliance with standards. Our products, both roses and fruit tree saplings, come with plant passports and meet the necessary requirements. We guarantee the health and varietal authenticity of our plants. Harvesting begins as early as the beginning of September upon request, and the latest harvest date is mid-November. We accept large orders from local governments, resellers, nursery warehouses, and businesses, at producer prices. The smallest unit for roses is one bundle, containing 10 plants of the same variety. The largest unit is one bunch, containing 5 bundles of the same variety. For fruit trees, one bundle contains 10 plants of the same variety. If requested, delivery for orders ranging from 500 to 3,000 units can be arranged using our own vehicles. We are unable to fulfill packaging, shipping, or small order requests. Kovács Rose Garden is open for group visits by appointment. The location is accessible by paved road (even buses can turn around). The first bloom is the most spectacular (from mid-June onwards), which is typically when the Szőreg Rose Festival is held. More images, videos, and related information can be found on the Facebook page "Kovács Rózsakert". We are happy to answer any questions via email.
